Our story

Built with love,
for a little girl
who thinks beyond.

Every app starts somewhere. Aura started with a bedtime question, a curious daughter, and a father who wanted to give her the world.

Ashok & Aanya — the heart behind every line of code

A question that changed everything

"Papa, why is studying so boring?"

My daughter Aanya asked me that one evening, sprawled across the floor surrounded by textbooks, looking absolutely defeated by homework. She's sharp, she's curious, she lights up when she discovers something new — and yet, the way learning had been packaged for her was killing that spark.

I'm a developer. My instinct when I see a broken experience is to build a better one. So that night, I opened my laptop not to code something for work, but for her.

"I wanted to build something that felt less like a chore and more like an adventure — something worthy of her curiosity."

— Ashok, creator of Aura

I read everything I could about how children — and humans in general — actually learn. Spaced repetition. Active recall. The science of focus and rest. I prototyped late into the night, testing features with Aanya on weekends, watching what made her eyes light up and what made her groan.

She became my first user, my harshest critic, and my greatest inspiration. Every feature in Aura exists because a curious little girl deserved better.

💜 For
Aanya

She taught me how to teach

Aanya has this incredible way of asking "but why?" until she reaches the very bottom of an idea. She doesn't accept surface-level explanations. She wants to understand things the way they truly work.

Watching her study taught me something I hadn't expected: the problem was never her ability or her attention span. The problem was the feedback loop. She didn't know what she knew, what she'd forgotten, or where to focus next.

Aura was built to solve exactly that — to be the gentle, smart guide she needed. To remember for her what she was close to forgetting. To celebrate every small win. To make learning feel like progress, not punishment.

ThinkBeyondUs — the name of our little studio — means exactly that. Think beyond yourself. Think beyond today. Build things that outlast the moment and matter to the people you love.

Principles behind every decision

These aren't marketing words. They're the things Aanya reminded me of, every single time.

🧠

Curiosity is sacred

A child's natural hunger to understand the world is the most precious thing there is. Aura protects it, not crushes it.

💜

Love is the best design brief

Building something for someone you love sets a standard no OKR or metric ever could. That's the standard Aura is held to.

🌱

Progress, not perfection

Aanya taught me that small wins compound. A single flashcard remembered today becomes a concept owned for life.

🔒

Privacy without question

My daughter's learning habits are not a data point. Neither are yours. Aura stays on your device, full stop.

Delight is not optional

If an 8-year-old is bored, the app failed — not her. Every screen should feel like something worth coming back to.

🤝

Think beyond yourself

We build for students we've never met, because somewhere out there is another Aanya who deserves better than boring.

A note from Papa

Dear Aanya,

You were seven when you asked me why studying had to be so hard. I didn't have a good answer then. So I did what I always do when I don't have an answer — I tried to build one.

This app is for you. But it's also for every kid who felt the way you did that evening — staring at a textbook, smart as anything, just waiting for someone to show them a better way.

You are the reason ThinkBeyondUs exists. You are the reason I care about making things that are actually good, not just good enough.

Every time a student somewhere opens Aura and smiles because learning finally clicked — that moment belongs to you. You started this. You keep it going.

Never stop asking "but why?" It's your superpower. Don't let anyone take it from you.

I love you more than all the flashcards in the world. 💜
